OC and AC insurance

How to keep track of your vehicle's OC and AC insurance

OC is mandatory in Poland and AC is optional. When policies are scattered across emails and files, renewal dates are easy to miss. Keep each policy as a separate record.

Guidance for vehicle owners in Poland
01

What to record

Add insurer name, policy number, start and end date, premium, coverage scope, and a PDF or photo of the document.

  • For OC, record whether the premium is paid once or in installments.
  • For AC, note key exclusions, deductible, and claim process where relevant.
02

Reminder timing

A sensible minimum is 30 days and 7 days before expiry, plus separate installment reminders.

  • Add a date for contacting the insurer or comparing offers, not only the expiry date.
  • After renewal, add a new policy record instead of overwriting the old history.
03

After selling the car

The seller should give the buyer OC confirmation and notify the insurer about the sale.

  • Record the sale date and proof that the insurer was informed.
  • Notify the registration authority separately; it is a different obligation.
